All climatologists now agree on the ongoing climate change on our planet. Every day we can read news in the media that somehow is linked to the current climate change. All countries contribute to the climate change, but in different ways and at different degrees - some more, some less, depending on the uneven distribution of wealth.

Under the theme  "A Sustainable Future in Kiruna"  we will, among other things  learn more about what causes the climate change and what we can do to reduce it, both  locally and globally. Now when our city is about to be moved because of the expansion of the iron ore mine - how can we best build a new city that is climate smart, reducing the use of natural resources?

This whole theme is a collaboration between Högalidskolan in Kiruna, the Technical Office in Kiruna AB (TVAB) and Kiruna Municipality. Lectures will be held by several specialists in areas such as recycling, consumption patterns and urban planning. We will also take part in a nationwide contest, "Future City". http://futurecity.nu/
